THE KARA LYNN THOMPSON AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN LIBERAL ARTS
The Kara Lynn Thompson Award for Excellence in Liberal Arts is a merit-based scholarship awarded annually to support and encourage African American college women at Purdue University.
The renewable scholarship was established to honor the life of Kara Lynn Thompson, who was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a graduate of The Purdue University College of Liberal Arts and The Georgetown University Law Center. Ms. Thompson was an accomplished employment lawyer, philanthropist and entrepreneur in Atlanta.
Scholarship Eligibility:

Black female students currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year student at Purdue University in the College of Liberal Arts

Has completed 30 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.3

Hold a leadership role within a campus-based organization and actively involved in community service

Special consideration will be given to out-of-state students, particularly those born and/or graduated high school in the Southern region of the US

Must submit a 3-4 minute video recorded statement (approximately 500 words) about how you will use your voice to make a difference in the upcoming election and submit a college transcript and resume
